What to make of the Cleveland Browns? Having struggled mightily in 2008, the team looked rather hopeless ending off the season.

The Browns are one of the worse statistical teams in the NFL in every major category, offense and defense. The Brown are in a brutal division, AFC North, with the Pittsburgh Steelers, Baltimore Ravens and the “new & improved” Cincinnati Bengals.

There was Brady Quinn, a young quarterback with a promising future, and Eric Mangini, who came over as the team’s new head coach after being dismissed from New York.

Then there’s Brady Quinn, now entering his second season. Quinn has been expected to take the reigns and bring Cleveland football back to a glorious state. Coupled with Quinn’s presence is the addition of Eric Mangini, former New York Jets head coach.

The Cleveland Browns lost by 14 points to the Minnesota Vikings in their first game. While the Vikings are a team that may very well with the NFC north, the Browns were still hoping for a better outcome. The team’s second game at Denver against the Broncos didn’t fare much better.

Was this really a new and improved Broncos defensive unit, or were the Browns really that bad on offense? I think it’s a bit of both, but I could easily tell it will be a very long season for the Browns and their fans.

So maybe Denver really does have a good defense. Is it possible?

It seems the Browns will be getting a very high draft pick in the spring time – that can be one of the turning points for their franchise.
